75+ Authentic Photographs Offering Evidence / 'Proof' of 'Paranormal Phenomena'

(A news release about this article may be read online at PR Newswire.)

15 Year Anniversary Article

This article presents 75+ authentic photographs of occurrences usually today known categorically as 'paranormal phenomena.'  Information about each photo is provided to enable people to better comprehend the possibilities and meaning of life.  There are also links to articles providing further information about each photo.  The first Metaphysical Articles blog post was published on April 26, 2009.  A 16th year of blogging commences with this article, which is No. 725 to-date.

The articles at this blog provide evidentiary information that can help one to overcome traditionalized cultural social programming to expand one's consciousness about the most consequential dimensions of earthly life.  As I realized more than 28 years ago when confronted with manifestations associated with 'poltergeist phenomena,' what has been commonly extolled among established education and socialization activities didn't take into account the facts making possible the essential fulfillment that can only be achieved with comprehending what constitutes the most consequential and profound knowledge.  (article)

This photo shows the materialized entity alternately known as 'John King' and 'buccaneer or pirate' Sir Henry De Morgan' who is chronicled in numerous books about seances during the Spiritualism epoch.  One book featuring commentary about this extensively documented 'principal control' and 'spirit' is The Spirit World (1894) by Florence Marryat.  (articles: incl. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

This photo was taken by John Kinsella at a seance of trance medium Helen Duncan as chronicled in A Journey of Psychic Discovery (2012 revised ed.) by Alan E. Crossley: "Careful study of the photograph indicates the density and transparency of the 'ectoplasm' . . . a vibrant living substance . . ."  (article)

This photo shows the materialized 'Katie King' with the entranced medium Florence Cook and Dr. J. M. Gully.  Many photos of 'Katie' were taken by William Crookes as recounted in chapters of Researches in the Phenomena of Spiritualism (London 1874) reprinted from The Quarterly Journal of Science.  (articles: incl. 1, 2, 3, 4)

This 1909 photograph is chronicled as the first one taken during seances with medium 'Eva C' in the case study book Phenomena of Materialisation (1920) by Baron Albert Von Schrenck Notzing.  A mishap occurred as the "flash-light was ignited" and "the paper cylinder caught fire."  This photo resulted.  (article)

Comparison of Aunt Agg photos: at home, London 1942 and, after her passing, during a seance appearance in 1948 as what might be called in contemporary parlance as a materialized 'Force Ghost.'  These photos are from Life After Death - Living Proof (2004; expanded 2008) by Tom Harrison.  The book caption reads: "Aunt Agg, materialised, our second attempt at taking photographs in red light."  (exposure of two minutes)  "Aunt Agg became a major link between the two worlds, materialising every week . . ."  (articles: 1, 2)

Granny Lumsden photo taken at a 1948 seance in comparison to a 1930 photo of her at home in England just prior to her passing over to 'the Other Side'  (article)

Charles Richet wrote in Thirty Years of Psychical Research (1923) that Bien Boa appeared five or six times and "seemed to float in the air on the left of the curtain . . . The softness and semi-vaporous outline of the hands are curious; likewise the veil surrounding the phantom has indeterminate outlines . . . A whitish fluidic mass is noticeable in front of the curtain."  (article)

This "phantom of a nun" photo was taken by Madeleine Lacombe after materializing flat during a Countess Castelvicz seance with the whole right side appearing as if "torn off a life-sized portrait."  This is one of numerous documentary photos in Schrenck Notzing's Phenomena of Materialisation (1920).  (article)

This is another photo from Schrenck Notzing's book — a detail of a photograph taken on July 1, 1913 of medium 'Stanislava P.'  Richet would describe the unfamiliar matter seen during seances as 'ectoplasm.'  Schrenck Notzing observed, "The upper lip is covered by a white substance, which appears to penetrate the veil, broadening out on the outside."  (articles: 1, 2)

Photograph (detail) of a materialized hand and the entranced Mina 'Margery' Crandon during a seance.  Maurice Barbanell described Margery as "the eighth wonder of the world" in his 1949 memoir Power of the Spirit.  (incl. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

This photo shows the entranced medium Margery Crandon with ectoplasm materializing. Arthur Conan Doyle in his autobiography The Edge of the Unknown (1930) referred to the phenomena occurring in the presence of Margery as being "perhaps the best attested in the whole annals of psychical research."  (incl. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

These two photos document the 'ectoplasmic voicebox' with entranced physical (materialization) medium Jack Webber (left) and conscious Direct Voice medium Leslie Flint.  Biographical books are available about both of these extensively documented mediums.  (incl. 1, 2, 3, 4)

This is Plate 3 from The Mediumship of Arnold Clare (1942) by Harry Edwards.  The photo caption reads: "Note the positive structure within the band of energy, also the central sphere of activity."  (Articles: 1, 2.)

Other evidence in the annals of 'paranormal phenomena' also is routinely ignored today.  These two photographs offer an example.  (article

Left: William Mumler's first photograph was a self-portrait in 1861: ". . . this picture was taken by myself when there was no visible person present but myself."  ("Spiritualism — Encyclopaedia of Psychic Science Article")  Right: This famous photograph of Mary Todd Lincoln is from the archive of the College of Psychic Studies, London.  Having used a different name, the widow lowered her veil just before the photo was taken without herself being recognized by Mumler.  On the printed picture were images of the late President and the couple's son Thaddeus whose Earth life ended when he was 18.  (article: "The Phenomenal Photograph of Mary Todd Lincoln")

Fig 1.  "The murdered wife and child return from spirit.  A Brazilian photograph."

The first photo featured in Spirit Photography (1965) by Major Tom Patterson was sent to the author from a Brazilian hospital Principal.  The photo involved a man named Jose Rodrigues.  Jose had told everyone that his wife had run away with her lover and taken his son with her.  Jose and his own lover decided to have their photo taken.

"The photographer was amazed when the negative was developed, because on it he found four people instead of two.  He was a man who previously had experienced this form of spirit phenomena."  This form of mediumship became known as establishing someone who was a "psychic photographer."  (article)

These are four photographs of Arthur Conan Doyle with examples of 'spirit extras' that an unseen Force contributed to the images.  The 'spirit extras' consistently manifested among the work of an assortment of photographers during the Spiritualism epoch.  Notice the highly uncommon visage in the 'spirit extra' of the lower right photo.  (article)

This is the famous 1936 'ghost' photograph showing 'the brown lady' of Raynham Hall.  The photo was taken by a Country Life magazine photographer visiting the Norfolk manor in England.  The current resident had published a book of True Ghost Stories earlier the same year.  (article)

This is the Greenbrier Ghost historical marker in Greenbrier County, West Virginia reporting a "known case in which testimony from ghost helped convict a murderer."  A book was written about this case entitled The Man Who Wanted Seven Wives (1986) by Katie Letcher Lyle.  (article)

Julia Pastrana (circa 1832-1860)
articles: 1, 2, 3
At left is an 1855 advertisement showing how Julia evidently appeared prior to grooming.  She sang and danced while on public exhibition in the United States and overseas after leaving her native Mexico.  (center)  For the
daguerreotype shown at the right, evidently Julia's arms and legs were either shaved or photographic retouching was done.

A periodical about her London engagement at the Regent Gallery includes these statements:

". . . her Nose, Forehead, and entire Face, Shoulders, Arms, &c., are covered with Thick Black Hair.  She has no Pupil apparent in the Eye, no Cartilage in the Nose, with double gums in the upper and lower jaw, and only One Row of Front Teeth.  The Lower Jaw is much extended, and the angle of the face is very singular."  (article)  A "printed history" is quoted:  "She is now four feet six inches high, and weighs one hundred and twelve pounds.  She has thick black hair all over her person, except her bosom, hands and feet.  Her mouth is elongated, with very thick lips.  She has double gums in front, both in the upper and lower jaw—with only one row of front teeth, and those teeth in the back gum of the lower jaw."

Six Reincarnation Documentation Case Comparison Photos (from the article "Reincarnation In Review")

1. Jeffrey J. Keene (born 1947) and John B. Gordon (1832-1904)  (article)

Joseph Myers is the author of Edward Bellamy Writes Again (1997).

. . . a blog article profiled the intriguing case of Rich Kendall—a student of 'Seth' through Jane Roberts—and a woman from a previous epoch named Marguerite de Valois . . .

photo from The History of the "I Am" Activity and Saint Germain Foundation (2003): "The Ballards visit the Mount Vernon Exhibition, 1938" — The Ballards' previous incarnations had been revealed to include George Washington for Guy and Joan of Arc for Edna.  Because of Guy's physical resemblance to the first American President, the couple chosen to carry out Saint Germain's mission were confronted with considering if this information was literal, metaphorical or both.

Here's an excerpt from the transcript of the very first Dictation by 'Beloved Angel Michael' in Philadelphia 1938:

"I have not ministered to Earth since My Ministry in France.  I ministered then to the same individual who, this night, I begin to minister through in America, our Beloved Joan of Arc. . . . I feel that it is My Duty to do what I can to assist the Earth and the people of America who have turned to the Light to stand firm and unyielding, and by that Power, which I shall give them in moving among them, they shall wield the Sword of Blue Flame in their physical hands. . . . That Blessed One who was once burned at the stake, will not be this time!"  (article)

This blogger published the article "UFOlogy and Seance Phenomena Correlations - Testimonials Mentioning Blue Light or Blue" in 2021 and there were have been corollary articles (1, 2, 3, 4) with correlations noticeable in other blog posts.  (including 1, 2, 3)

Mark Russell Bell and the ancient Bel-Marduk —
My own predicament involves reincarnation as I learned about parallels between my current life and events found chronicled on ancient clay tablets found in Assyrian ruins involving 'Bel-Marduk.'  The strange incidents included my finding an Egyptian-style antique pendant showing a profile view of my close likeness as I looked throughout my younger years.  I ended my entertainment industry career after the events chronicled in the case study Testament published in 1997.  (article)

Cases Involving Apparitions of the Virgin Mary

These images shows the 'visionary trances' of the children at Garabandal, Spain.  (1, 2)
This example of a 'Marian apparition' or photographic manifestation of a symbolic image representing 'blessed virgin Mary' is stated online to have been taken in 1989 in Hungary when an art restorer was photographed at work while situated on some scaffolding.  (article)

This is a photo from Arthur Shuttlewood's Warnings from Flying Friends (1968): "UFO over Cradle Hill, August 1967.  Picture by Birmingham Contact U.K. group member Roger Blackwell."  Article: "Some Media Responses to the Warminster Mystery".

Photo comparison (1) in The Dragon and the Disc: "This Disc was photographed by Mr. Lars Thorn at 9.55 a.m. on 6 May 1971, at a point 5 k.m. N.E. of Skillingaryd, Sweden.  Two successive pictures were taken before the object moved away behind the grenade shelter on the right.  Stereoscopic examination suggests that the object was a long way beyond the wall.  The haze around the trailing and leading edges was described as a reddish halo by the photographer.  The top of the central cupola containing  the 'Eye' is barely visible on the upper surface.   Article: "UFOlogy In Review - The Most Important Comprehension"

These images are on the cover of the documentary book UFOs Caught on Camera!: A Spiritual Investigation on Videos and Photos of the Luminous Objects Visiting Earth (2018) by Ryuho Okawa (1956-2023).  His reactions upon witnessing UFO sightings are heard in the audio tracks of the video footage recorded by his aides working in the Happy Science organization he founded in 1986.  (articles: 1, 2)

These photostatic reproductions of a letter in French and a letter in Chinese may not seem obviously paranormal until one knows the details about their origin aboard a flying saucer.  (article)

This photo detail of 'the aliens' is shown juxtaposed with the original photo (from Mc Wethy family photo album) in the nonfiction case study book TESTAMENT (1997).  (article)

Here's a photo detail showing the faint visage of a mysterious visitor in the dark background of a room juxtaposed with the original photo (from Mc Wethy family photo album).  Because of the faintness of the image, the Centrahoma photo wasn't included in the case study TESTAMENT (1997).  The enlargement of the area behind the youth's shoulder shows the prominence of the 'eyes' with an amplification in brightness.  (article)

In the back at left of the photo, the family noticed what seemed like a little girl with braids and old-fashioned clothes, while inside the van there was what looked like "an apparition of a black guy" or "dark person" wearing a headband.  When I studied the photo, a more obvious apparent anomaly was noticeable — behind the open door of the vehicle can be seen an image of black objects resembling two legs of a tripod with camera at the top and on the ground a circular shape next to one of the tripod legs.  (Another photo from the nonfiction case study book TESTAMENT 1997).  (article)

This 1995 photo of a bigfoot is one in a series of 14 taken by a forest patrol officer in Washington's Snoqualamie National Forest and published in the Los Angeles Times in 1996.  © Cliff Crook.  (Another photo from the nonfiction case study book TESTAMENT 1997).  (article; Cliff Crook interview transcript)

Ivan T. Sanderson wrote in Abominable Snowmen: Legend Come To Life (1961) about people living in the vicinity of Gautemala's Baja Verapaz, around the town of Cubulco: "There live in the mountain forests very big, wild men, completely clothed in short, thick, brown, hairy fur, with no necks, small eyes, long arms and huge hands.  They leave footprints twice the length of a man's."

"'Miracle' Awes Hindus Worldwide" is the headline of a September 23, 1995 article in the Los Angeles Times.  Some paragraphs provide examples of a perspective that anomalous occurrences (or 'miracles')—even those witnessed by numerous people—are simply to be dismissed without any investigation whatsoever.  Despite some denialist responses to the event reported 20 years ago, there are parallels with testimonials published in case studies of 'supernatural' or 'paranormal' phenomena, including 'talking poltergeist' hauntings experienced by the 19th Century Bell family of Tennessee and by the contemporary Bell/Mc Wethy family in Oklahoma.  (article)

channelers
These photos of 'deep trance'/'overshadowing'/'total takeover' 'channelers' are from a mainstream publication exploring the subject of channeling, the 1989 Time-Life book Spirit Summonings: top left: Jach Pursel channeled 'Lazaris'; top right: 'Cajuba' gave an "interspecies communication between man and dolphin" through Neville Rowe; below right: 'Merlin' spoke through Diana Hoerig to explain: "I am simply a symbolic Archetype of a Force, a power to manipulate nature"; below center: 'Ramtha' with eyes open spoke through the body of JZ Knight; below left: Taryn KrivĂ© channeled an entity of the 'Violet Flame Network'; center: 'John' (the apostle) was in control of Kevin Ryerson.  (articles: 1, 2)
Note: There are more than 200 blog articles about authentic channeling case chronologies; meanwhile, informing the public about transcendental communication such as 'channeling' is currently not understood as having any value throughout commercial mainstream news media.

Instrumental Transcommunication Photographic Evidence

Planetary Nebula MyCn18
. . . I also remember seeing the photo on display in an exhibition at the Griffith Observatory of Los Angeles during my visit to the public observatory.  This famous photo is mentioned in another blog article and a TESTAMENT transcript that mentions: " . . . we [Ken and me] discussed the Hubble 'eye' photograph because he just saw it at a recent exhibit and I said I think it's another cover-up.  It's the eye of God and the 'potato shaped structure with a symmetry axis dramatically different from that of the larger hourglass' description could be an allusion to the cover-up.  He said he doesn't think that much thought goes into it and I said, 'What about (the headline "Hubble Finds An Hourglass Nebula Around) A Dying Star"'?  I told God that He's not a dying star (You'll get the love You need)."  (articles: 1, 2)
