Following the space people contact case chronology during the 1950s that is the subject of recent articles at this blog, the space people made available further evidence of their presence and nature—including through transcendental communication—as chronicled in this article quoting complete reports published in issues of The A.P.R.O. Bulletin. As a preface, first presented are some specific details involving the data and evidence providing 'proof of extraterrestrial life' as reported in previous articles at this blog (incl. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

1.) When 'Captain Aura' instructed him to 'write down the highlights of our discussion and make it known to the people of our world,' Truman Bethurum replied to her: "I am not a writer and I can hardly read my own writing!" He reported that she promised, "You will have no trouble writing about our visits with you." He described what he experienced thereafter.

When I was back at the Desert Inn in Overton, I took papers and pencil and sat down to write as they had instructed me to do. The results were surprising to me! It seemed as though someone was holding the pencil and actually forming the words!

What Truman wrote includes these sentences:

Then I mentioned our atomic resources
And our measures to aid all mankind
She answered, "That's a step in the right direction,

2.) Journalist-Contactee author of six UFOlogy books, Arthur Shuttlewood reported about what he learned from the people from Aenstria via telephone calls prior to the in-person visit from 'Karne':

Each expressed concern, also, for the continuing efficiency of the protective belt which girdles our cantel [Aenstrian term for planet]. It acts as a filter for rays coming to our planet from other sources, thus permitting only positive vibrations to reach and benefit us.

Through frequent atomic tests in the atmosphere, these protective belts can become distorted, their effectiveness impaired. The protective layers can be gouged and ripped apart, with dreadful consequences. Thus dangerous rays, including harmful Strontium 90, can reach and adversely affect us and activate in water supplies. In particular sectors of our Earth, fault zones have appeared, known to our visitors and as yet undiscerned by our own experts. The Aenstrian callers, and their peoples, fear that if nuclear testing is carried out near, or on, these faulty places, untold destruction will inevitably result.

They do not wish our Earth peoples, whom they term brothers and sisters according to the Only One's decree, to be immersed in the biggest blood-bath in our history; and, having vainly attempted to warn some of the governments of the world, are now seeking to convince the ordinary man and woman in the street. "Remember the terrible, tragic and needless end of the cantel Lucifer," they warned.

There is a continual warring between positive and negative forces, I was told. (article)

3.) Orfeo Angelucci was informed by the space visitor 'Orion' in 1953:

". . . vast numbers of Earthlings are former Luciferians . . . The revelation when it comes will explain many of the enigmas of your planet." (article)

4.) Here is an excerpt of the conversation between Daniel Fry and the unseen 'Alan' as Daniel reported in Alan's Message: To Men of Earth (1954).

[Daniel asked] ". . . Why don’t you simply set your craft down on the White House lawn some morning, ask for worldwide communication facilities, and give the whole world your message at once?"

". . . the secrecy of military 'security' has now grown far beyond the bounds of its reason, and has become, in many cases, only an excuse to conceal anything which might embarrass any member of your governing bodies. As a matter of fact, most of the tension which exists between your nations today is the direct result of this excessive secrecy."

"But supposing that you did land. Supposing that you did give our country the benefit of your knowledge, wouldn’t that tend to prevent the outbreak of another war?" I said. "Surely you don't think us so barbaric that we would attack another country simply because we felt that we possessed the means to conquer it?" [Blogger's comment: This is currently how U.S. government officials are currently perceived by counterparts in Russia as well as perhaps China.]

"Not at all," Alan replied. "You miss the point entirely. If we were to land in your country, your government would attempt to keep it a secret, but it would not succeed any more than it succeeded in keeping the secrets of its nuclear weapons. The government of Russia upon being apprised of the fact that the military forces of the United States were acquiring highly advanced technical knowledge, would decide that their only hope of avoiding complete domination by the United States was to launch an immediate attack. Have you so soon forgotten the lessons of your Pearl Harbor that you do not realize this?

"If we were to land in both countries simultaneously, the result would be only to intensify the existing race for armaments, and would eventually bring about the very holocaust which we are attempting to prevent . . . Actually, the possibility of atomic warfare on your earth is not the problem, it is merely a symptom, and no one has ever had any great success in curing an illness by treating only the symptoms.

"There are three types or branches of science which are necessary for the proper development of mankind: the Spiritual Science, the Social Science and the Physical or Material Science. The spiritual and social sciences must come first. There can be no development of the material science unless there first exists a foundation of the spiritual and social sciences. You can prove this to yourself by considering the difference between man and the animals. The animal has no spiritual or social science and consequently has never developed a material science. A few of your insects such as the ant and the bee have developed a rudimentary form of social science to the extent that they are able to live together in large numbers, work together for their mutual welfare, and have a form of discipline which is common to all. As a result of this they also have developed a very limited material science, in that they do erect structures, and store food against a future time of need. The fact, however, that they have no spiritual science has proven an absolute bar to further development with the result that they have not advanced a single step in thousands of years.

"Mankind, on the other hand, has, from the very beginning of his development, sensed the fact that there is a supreme power and intelligence which pervades and controls all nature. Man's attitude toward this power has varied from fear and resentment, to reverence and love, but always he has had the desire to learn more of the nature of this power. Thus the spiritual science had its beginning in the very dawn of human intelligence. With the realization that man could improve the conditions of his life only by co-operation, came the first tribal gatherings which were the beginning of the social science.

"You now have the problem of a huge and massive structure, growing at an ever increasing rate, standing upon, and supported only by a foundation which is growing at a much smaller rate. It is obvious that unless some means are found to stimulate greatly the growth of the foundation, a time will inevitably come when the structure will collapse upon that foundation, bringing ruin and destruction to both. This has occurred before upon your earth, and your civilization has now entered the stage where it is likely to occur again.

"Your race is now in constant danger of total destruction by an agency which it has itself produced. Why should a people be menaced by their own creations? Simply because they have not progressed far enough in the spiritual and social sciences to enable them to determine the uses to which their creations shall be put.

"Most of the thinkers of your race are well aware of the danger inherent in the use of nuclear weapons, but there is another aspect of the problem which is not generally recognized. That is the fact that unless unity is achieved between your nations, the very existence of such weapons will eventually bring about the downfall of your civilization, even though they are never used. The truth of this fact can he understood by anyone who will think a little.

". . . As I have said before: our ancestors were a group of survivors of the last complete collapse of civilization on this planet [Earth]. This was more than thirty thousand years ago as you measure time today, but even then they had developed a material science which was, in some respects at least, considerably advanced over your present position. They followed the natural laws, instead of pitting one against the other as your science does, so that their devices were much simpler, and yet they could accomplish things which you have not yet been able to do. They, too, failed to realize the absolute necessity of an equal development of the spiritual and social values.

"A political and social cleft developed between the two principal nations of that era. Friction between the two increased yearly, until at last it exploded into a war of annihilation. Weapons of absolute energy were used by each nation against the other, weapons whose destructive power was a thousand times greater than that of the Hydrogen bomb which threatens your race today. There was no question of victory or defeat. They simply destroyed each other. There were few survivors and the radiation level of the entire surface of the planet had been raised beyond human tolerance. This did not mean that all survivors were doomed to immediate death from the radiation, but it did mean that progressive deterioration of the mental and biological functions, together with the large number of mutations which would be produced in succeeding generations, would, eventually, bring their level of existence down almost to that of the beast." "The strange case we are going to relate here came to our knowledge through an officer of the Brazilian Army, from the 6th Military Region, located at Salvador, Bahia. Its authenticity was investigated to the limits that any investigation can reach when every possible explanation is analyzed and evaluated. That is: the photos and negatives were examined from every technical angle, the position of the sun and shape of clouds on the day of the sighting were determined and compared with what appears on the pictures, and the life and personality of the witness were exhaustively investigated. In a case of this kind, however, we could only reach a definite conclusion if such a conclusion was negative. In other words, if the photos or negatives showed clues suggesting a trick; if the position of the sun and shape of clouds on the day and time alleged contradicted what is seen in the photos, or if facts or motivations in the life and personality of the witness were found, showing that he couldn't be trusted, was a psychotic, or had reasons for simulation of the whole thing. As nothing of the kind was found or discovered, the case must be accepted as possible in spite of the fact that, even so, the inflexible investigator is not capable of admitting it as definitely proved — for lack of absolute proof. Many may consider this criterion as exaggerated, but in a matter so delicate and controversial the lack of evidence against does not imply a positive conclusion. On the other hand, the witness obviously cannot present more than was presented: his photos and his report. Therefore, in this article, we bring to the readers the account of this strange case, another UFO case where a proof against was not found in spite of all data we were able to collect in our investigation. The absolute truth, that only the witness himself can be sure about it. Our duty is only to report the facts to all people interested in the matter.

"Mr. Helio Aguiar, protagonist of the case we are going to report and author of the photos and drawings included here, works for the Statistics Section of the 'Banco Economica da Bahia,' in Salvador city. He is a professional draftsman. He is 32 years old. He is married and has five children. He lives a modest life, but with dignity. He has the reputation of a serious and honest man. He is a white man of small stature and uses glasses with very thick lenses because of his myopia. He has a dynamic temperament. He got nothing for his story, his drawings or photos — he didn't want anything, he said he only wished to cooperate for the progress of science and knowledge. He is considered by some as an 'eccentric,' because of his study of hypnosis, telepathy and metaphysical research, but he is not a mystic nor a fanatic. Concerning the position of the sun in the hour corresponding to the time when the photos were taken, as well as the aspect of the clouds, no discrepancies were found. The negatives didn't show anything abnormal. The camera used was a 'Flexaret' with film Agfa Isopan. The film was over-developed and, as a consequence, is too hard and with an excess of granulation. The message was examined from a graphic viewpoint: the characters present signs that the message was written in an abnormal state, when compared with his usual handwriting. He was submitted to several interrogations and told the same things every time. He agreed with no hesitation to be put under hypno-analysis, or submitted to a 'lie detector,' if and when necessary. In fact, the only things he may get with his report are worries and headaches. He has no material motivation to fake it. These are the things that were possible to determine. Now we can turn our attention to the case itself, according to Mr. Helio Aguiar's report.

"On April 24, 1959, Helio Aguiar went to the 6th Military Region's headquarters to meet a close friend, Captain Leib Leibovitch. The friendship between the two men was based on two common interests: both appreciated the study of hypnosis and metaphysical research, as well as to ride a motorcycle. Captain Leib had a motor, which frequently was used by Helio. However, the officer had been transferred to Sao Paulo and, as the time of his trip to the new post was near, he called Helio and asked for a gun (a particular weapon) he had given him some time ago. This gun, however, was with another friend of Helio, a resident of the Amaralina district, which was very far from the Q. G. Besides, Helio had his camera and wanted to take pictures of his nephews. So, he got permission to use the motor of the Captain and left. He took the pictures of his nephews and then went to Amaralina. Afterwards, he decided to take his last ride on the motorcycle, along the marvelous highway that runs to ltapoan, on the way to the airport. This highway spreads for several kilometers, between the sea and the palm-tree thickets.

"When he was approaching a place called Piatan, Helio spotted something like a dark smear in the sky just over the ocean. At first he thought it might be some defect of his vision, but the smear was getting shape and closing in. At this moment, the engine of the motorcycle stopped. Already motionless, Helio noticed that the smear was a disk, flattened at one of its faces, from where protruded four half-spheres, and on which some dark signs were visible, like symbols. He had the chance to see them well. On the other side there was a cupola or dome of some sort surrounded by concavities or windows. From the base of the cupola protruded several parallel tubular devices. The object was silvery in color. On the side of the cupola there were also other signs which didn't register in his memory. Helio took three pictures. The object was rotating in the air, making a kind of 'looping.' Two of the photos show the flattened part, and the third one shows the cupola on top of it. When taking those photos, he began to feel a strange pressure on his brain and such a feeling was associated with a growing mental confusion. He sensed vaguely something like an order to write something. It was like being hypnotized. When winding his film for another picture, he completely lost consciousness. When he came out of this state he was dropped over the motorcycle, there was a paper in his left hand which had been before inside his pocket (on the other side of it there were some notes about a 'kid's game' of his sons), and a pencil in the right hand. There was a message written on the piece of paper, in Portuguese, in his own hand. And the message was the following:

"'. . . ATOMIC EXPERIMENTS FOR WARLIKE PURPOSES SHALL BE DEFINITELY STOPPED. . . THE EQUILIBRIUM OF THE UNIVERSE IS THREATENED. WE WILL REMAIN VIGILANT AND READY TO INTERFERE.'

"It could be only a hallucination. Still with this idea in his mind, he went back to the Q. G. and reported the events to Captain Leib. Afterwards they went together to find a person to develop the film at once. The task was finally done by Prof. Ismael Barros, a resident of the Saude district. There were ten photos on the film. The first had been taken at the Q. G. and showed Captain Leib together with the Reverend of the 6th M. R. The following five pictures (until the sixth) were the photos of the nephews. The seventh, eighth and the ninth showed the object, exactly like he had sighted it. However, there was also a tenth picture, one he didn't remember having taken, on which the object appeared very small, almost turned into a point. The two remaining pictures showed nothing, they had not been exposed.

"This is the story of Mr. Helio Aguiar, reported with utmost objectivity. The film was not cut. Later, he made drawings showing what he had seen, including detail which only vaguely can be noticed in the photos. These drawings are the ones appearing on these pages.

"What to think about this story? And about the message? Was he under the effect of self-hypnosis? Was it a hoax? Or a communication made easier by his telepathic experience? The knowledge obtained by Helio Aguiar about hypnosis and telepathy, the experiments he has performed in these fields, represent a knife with two cutting edges in the evaluation of his story. On one side it could be suggested that he had spontaneously fallen into a hypnotic trance because of the shock caused by the appearance of the UFO (if the photos are considered as authentic, as they seem to be), and the message was written under the influence of what has been published about the possible motivations of the probable crews inside the possible interplanetary machines. On the other side, however, it cannot be denied that a mind like his would be the best receiver for any transmission of such a kind. In fact, he has well developed the capacity of guessing, of receiving 'telepathic messages' transmitted from distance under experimental conditions, verified in other cases which have nothing to do with the "flying saucers." As it can be seen, a cold evaluation of the facts in his case does not drive us to any definite conclusion. But the subject must be reported and registered. It is so presented here, for those who are interested."

GENERAL DISCUSSION

The case transcribed above was printed in the June 13, 1959, issue of the CRUZEIRO Magazine, which was published on June 1. 1959. The man who made the investigation, Mr. Joao Martins, is the well-known Brazilian reporter who, together with the photographer Ed Keffel, took the first authentic photos of a UAO [unconventional aerial object] in my country in 1952. He is an engineer also and a responsible and honest UAO researcher. He is also an APRO member. A few weeks ago he received a letter from a Brazilian Army officer (on a confidential basis, to protect the author's identity) telling about the case. He decided to go to Salvador in order to make a personal investigation. He found that a complete investigation had already been made by the Army's Intelligence agents. He repeated it and came to the same conclusions, which are the ones reported in his article. He was lucky because the Army had not confiscated the negatives. After examination, the film had been returned to its owner in good condition by an Intelligence officer. Incidentally, the witness was not told to keep his report confidential. It would be illegal procedure, by the way, because there is no legal authority for any Government agency in Brazil to compel private citizens to keep UFO reports confidential. Therefore, the witness is free to report his story to the press, and so it was reported to Mr. Martins, the only one who already knew about it.

Because this story, if widely accepted, could spread hysteria about UAOs and atomic tests, I have asked Mr. Martins for the proof in his hands: the negatives and drawings, the original of the message and the witness' written report. He kindly agreed to show me the evidence and I was able to make a complete investigation. The essential facts are the ones described in his article. The negatives appear to be good. The message seems to be true. The investigation about Mr. Aguiar's life and personality was complete.

What to think about the case?

Four possibilities must be considered in the analysis of this remarkable incident. They are the following:

1. This is a very bad hoax, i.e., the pictures, drawings, message and report are all false, faked by Mr. Aguiar. It is possible to concoct such a tale from known facts. If so, the "message" was badly chosen, since it implies a veiled menace of interference from UAOs. However, the investigation was unable to discover any motive for such an elaborate and expensive scheme. Besides, the witness was submitted to a cross-examination as sharp as any conducted by military Intelligence but stuck to his story and did not deviate a bit from it. When pressed, his constant report was to refer to his experience and state that he cannot help that he had experienced it. He also agreed to be examined under the control of a "lie detector," or submitted to hypno-analysis. But his best evidence is the pictures of the "flying disk." The negatives were carefully examined by photographic experts. The results confirmed the authenticity of the photos and the possibility of a falsification or photographic trick can be definitely excluded. I consider them to be among the most important photos of a UAO ever taken. They represent roof that the sighting was real.

2. The sighting existed, the photos are authenfic — but the message was faked. This is an interesting possibility. The motivations of the witness would be related to the increasing alarm about the danger of radiation fall-out all over the world. If he was deeply worried about the problem, he also knew that only very strong reasons could change the present day attitude of the military about it. A "message" from outer space would be evidently a very strong argument for his purpose, especially if it was backed by photos of a real UAO — as in his case. Even a reliable and responsible person might do it, doing it for the well-being of mankind. It seems clear.

3. The sighting existed, the photos are real, but the witness was a victim of aulosuggeslion. That is, the message is true in the sense that it was written by the witness in a trance-like state. But it is not a message from the UAO crew. It came from his own subconscious urges and fears and was written when the subject was in a state of self-hypnosis caused by the shock of the UAO's startling appearance. In this case, he would be absolutely convinced of the truth of his whole experience.

4. This is the first true message from a UAO, i.e., the sighting existed, the photos are real and the message is authentic. It was written in a trance-like state directly caused by some device inside the UAO, from the outside, in order to make the subject able to receive and register it. The method used would be obviously unknown to us, so it cannot be discussed here. I have discarded the first two possibilities, based on the facts of the case. The answer is between the last two of them. Which one? I don't know yet. The final answer will come only after the next A-bomb or H-bomb tests.

Working from the highly enlarged prints made from the original negatives, it is quite certain that these are authentic photographs of an unconventional aerial object actually over the water. By lining up the horizon as has been done in the composite print, and assuming equal enlargement of the originals, the apparent maneuver of the object may be noted. The apparent size of the object increases from view No. 1 to view No. 3, indicating the object was approaching the camera.

In views Nos. 1 and 2 we seem to be looking at the bottom of the disc. The spots (indentations or protrusions) are not distinct enough to determine their nature and the shadow effect from these is lost in the grain pattern.

The altitude of the craft increased from view No. 3 to view No. 4 as the water is no longer visible in the last view. Only the shiny central dome is visible in this view. This may be due to the reflectivity matching that of the sky and being concealed by the grain.

CANADIAN PHOTO CASE

At 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 1975, Pat McCarthy, 19, left his home in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and took his camera with him in hopes of finding some hawks to photograph. He had visited the area previously and he had gotten some good shots of birds, but on this particular day he saw no birds, and decided to give up the vigil at about 1:30 p.m. He was walking away from the quarry, which is located on Highway 5 near Waterdown when he caught a movement "out of the corner of his eye" and when he turned to look, noted the object resembled a "frisbee."

The object was moving too fast to be a bird and he decided he should take photos and raised the camera but had difficulty keeping it in the view finder because of its speed, but finally snapped the first shot. He didn't realize he had caught the object until later when the film was developed. Pat was sure he missed the second shot, (which he did — he got only a tree), took a third, then momentarily lost it from the view finder. After regaining it, he snapped photo Number 4. (See the accompanying diagram for the path the disc followed.) He did not have time to take a fifth exposure because the object suddenly straightened its course and moved away at great speed. Pat said it diminished in size at a constant rate until it disappeared.

The young man realized how important the photos could be, so he took the camera with the roll of film still in it, to the offices of the local newspaper, the Hamilton Spectator. Although he has his own darkroom, he decided the film should be developed by another party so as to help establish authenticity. McCarthy, who is an amateur astronomer and is generally conversant with aircraft, estimated the object to be twice the size of a DC-8, based on the fact that he is familiar with the craft at various altitudes and the cloud formations in the sky at the time were cumulonimbus and that they are formed at between 15 and 20 thousand feet.

Field Investigator Carol White interviewed McCarthy on behalf of APRO and the information related above is based on her excellent report.

The exciting element of this case is that the configuration of the disc seems to match up exactly with that of another disc-shaped object photographed by Helio Aguiar at Piata Beach, Bahia, Brazil, on April 1959. (See the photos accompanying this article.) The flat surface (generally assumed to be the bottom of the disc) of the disc appears to have symbols of some kind whereas the disc in the Hamilton photo case was apparently too far away and in the wrong position for a view of that portion of it.

Also, in photo number 1 of the Hamilton case, the disc's position makes the dome appear larger than that of the Aguiar (Photo number 3) object. However, the area of the flat part of the Aguiar disc presented to the camera indicates that it is tilted slightly away from the viewer, thus showing more of the flat surface and less of the dome than in the Hamilton photo.

Thus we can assume that had the Aguiar disc been photographed edge on as the Hamilton object seems to have been, it would have presented more of the dome area, and would indicate a perfect match.

The Hamilton photos presented here are a portion of greatly enlarged 8x10 black and white glossy copies. The image, although sharp, is very small, even in the 8x10s. In the Aguiar photos, the photo analyst lined up the photos with the ocean's surface to demonstrate the angle of elevation and distance above the ocean. In the fourth photo, the dome is reflecting a great deal of light and the rim more or less blended into the sky background.

Pat McCarthy was using a Praktica Nova 1 (1966) camera, made in Germany, a Hanimar 135 mm lens with a focal length F2-8. The film was Kodak plus X ASA 125. The whole episode lasted 30 seconds.

1/11/25 Update: Military-minded author Leonard Stringfellow wrote in Situation red, the UFO siege! (1977): "Perhaps USOs [unidentified submarine objects], like their aerial counterpart, the UFO, may have more than a casual interest in nuclear installations. As far back as 1952, a Project Bluebook report and map with indicator pins were released that showed that UFOs were seen preponderantly in the critical areas of nuclear development in the U.S.A." A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by The Black Vault on November 7, 2024, with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, resulted in the release of records highlighting drone incursions over sensitive nuclear installations. The request, identified as FOIA-2025-000142, sought all materials and communications shared with the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) from June 2022 through the end of 2024.

While UFO enthusiasts may have hoped for evidence of extraordinary phenomena, the documents largely revolve around repeated sightings of drones near sensitive nuclear installations.

Nonetheless, these incidents provide an intriguing insight into ongoing challenges relating to these events.

The released materials include several detailed reports from 2022-2024, highlighting a surge of drone-related activity near nuclear facilities. The records reveal a pattern of sightings, as documented by the NRC, which were then sent to AARO to add to their yearly reports.

These records illustrate the growing amount of drone activity over critical infrastructure. Although the released documents primarily focus on drone sightings, they shed light on the broader scope of AARO’s work in addressing potential aerial threats—whether they stem from benign curiosity, commercial misuse, or nefarious intent.

While these incidents released by the NRC do not reveal any groundbreaking revelations about unidentified aerial phenomena, they underscore the critical need to address drone incursions at sensitive sites. This concern was magnified by the December 2024 drone sightings over the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station in New Jersey, along with other sightings at Salem and Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations.
