It may be surprising for some readers to learn that there is transcendental communication
associated with the name 'Leader' in a book by Marjorie Livingston
(born 1893). The author published four books designating
her as having written what was clairaudiently received from the voices of
‘Control’ or ‘Guide’ Personalities: The New Nuctemeron (1930), The
Harmony of the Spheres (1931), The Elements of Heaven (1932) and An
Outline of Existence (1933). Dozens of previous blog articles chronicle and document what is
sometimes called the 'Centrahoma Poltergeist,' a case where 'Leader' is among the names of manifesting entities described by the
Oklahoma family experiencing 'talking poltergeist' phenomena among other anomalous occurrences.
Marjorie commented in an explanatory note of the second of these books: "As a musician may hear a melody welling from the unplumbed depths of the hidden self, so have I heard this super-terrestrial teaching within the recesses of my mind, and I have striven to write, literally, as the Spirit moved me."
In the Foreword to An Outline of Existence, she acknowledged that only part of the fourth book was received clairaudiently. She described a change in the system of mediumship that resulted after instructions received on January 22, 1931.

I was told to project my consciousness to the Temple of Truth, which stands upon one of the outer Spheres of our planet, and I was taken in vision to an immense chamber, which was, no doubt, the Hall of Learning. There, a large book with clasps was shown to me, lying open upon a lectern.
Later in the day, I received the following message from the Priest of the Temple:
"Write at our command, for that which is given to thy pen shall be of the Holy Writ which is inscribed in the Book of Truth which is kept within the Temple which thou has seen.
"For herein are written the Laws of God, not as they have been interpreted by man, but as they exist fundamentally, the foundation of all Cause from which all manifestations of Nature spring and all Matter evolves according to the necessity of man's evolution. . . .
"We are not able to carry this Book into thy plane; the volume is too sacred. Therefore thou must come to us within the Temple to study that which is written therein. Thy mind shall understand the symbols, and shall impress thy brain with images which it shall interpret in words and parables of earth. Fear not to carry forth this Word even unto the least, for until the least is become as the greatest, the Kingdom of the Christ shall not have been fulfilled."
Of the ensuing astral journeys which I doubtless undertook I can remember very little, but I have not the slightest doubt that my super-conscious mind did actually make these contacts during physical sleep, and that the sub-conscious mind stored the memories which became exteriorized during the process of the regular sittings which I undertook for the purposes of this book.
Livingston commented:
I believe I have received the objective and unceasing assistance of that group of Personalities who have signed their names or titles to this script. I have been conscious throughout of their presence, and from time to time I have heard their voice clairaudiently.
It would not, however, be fulfilling my duty as Transcriptrice if I did not emphasize the human aspect of this work. Even in the full belief that this philosophy has been supernormally attained, it must be kept in mind that the teaching comes through a human channel and can lay no claim to infallibility in any shape or form. Its passage through my own personality would alone be sufficient to eliminate any such pretension, and it is not to be forgotten that the Guides themselves never claim to be all-knowing, for omniscience is the prerogative of God alone.
I hope this script will be received in the spirit in which I believe the Guides have given it and in which I have written it down, which is, quite simply, a spirit of unity, a desire to link the planes of our own limited existence with the vast reservoir of life and knowledge which stretches unseen around and about us.
We, to whom you have given yourself as an earthen vessel to carry the Water of Life, perform this Ritual of Blessing. May he also who reads our words with understanding depart on his way with peace.
We who have been with you undersign ourselves that this work may bear the seal of our names. Nevertheless the knowledge which has been given you is not our own, but is contained within the volumes which have been written not for those incarnate on your plane alone, but for those also who seek instruction upon the psychic Spheres of Being.
We have been but interpreters of the Sacred Word, nor have we adequately translated it, for only in the sublime World of Perfection may it be perfectly understood.
You also have been an interpreter, for your soul has translated the Word in the language of your mortal brain that it might be written in the tongue of Earth. Remember, then, that your Earth is mute and inarticulate compared with the free converse of the Spheres. As you would not be enabled to explain the terms of your technical sciences in the language of primitive man, so can we not give you the full translation of the Word in your language.
Your mind may comprehend that which the brain cannot exteriorize, because the brain is finite, and the mind is linked with Infinity. Let him who reads, therefore, seek the light of divine Inspiration within his own mind to the end that he may see and understand.
We, then, who are privileged to attain access to the sacred books which are ranged within the Hall of Learning, and ourselves have brought you thither that you might read of the cosmic Word, have striven to perform a small act of Service in passing down to your world that which is our cherished possession.
In the Age which is dawning, the Aquarian Age, man will accept knowledge as he has not before accepted it since the ancient days of Atlantis.
We who have travailed through many incarnations greet you with love and understanding, striving to pass down to you that which is most needful at the present moment of Evolution.
In the Name of Him Who is Supreme and Eternal, we bless you. Amen.
I
was again reminded of the Centrahoma case—in particular the bird gravel
message—after reading the following sentences (clairaudiently communicated) in Chapter III:
Every Age, every language, has its own symbols. Most outstanding in your own is the letter O, as you pronounce it with open lips. This is the letter of power, and you have rightly interpreted it. Your lips are posed in circular form as you pronounce it, and the symbol in your writing is circular.
Now the circle denotes the Aura of God, the First Creation, the Orbit around the Great First Cause which is the Unknown, Unapproachable Sun around which all universes revolve and from whence they obtain their Being.
So, in striving to find a name for the One Who is Un-nameable, the world-peoples have used the symbol of the O to express to the utmost of their human power the sense of a Living God manifested in creation. You find the fact far back in your history. The Brahmanic word OM has this inception.
The Hebrew Priests who, once a year, pronounced the Holy Name within the Sanctuary, interpreted It in their language by the use of the O vibration, and by taking as their initial letter the Yod of the Hebrew alphabet.
Your own word, God, is similar in vibration, and also the Gott of the German people
. . . the O the Cycle of Nirvana around the Divine Nucleus Which is God.
The
transcendental communication presented in Livingston’s books are among
those to suggest each individual being is a finite aspect or 'unit' of
an all-pervading Consciousness, a premise making comprehensible diverse
forms of interaction, communication and inspiration usually categorized
as ‘psychic phenomena.’ Each personality has a unique perspective based
upon their individual experiences and knowledge. In Chapter IV alone,
there are found such metaphysical expressions as: Christ-Spirit, God,
Great First Cause, Source of all Life, all Light, all Intelligence,
Progenitor of All Knowledge, Him Who is Unknown, Cosmic I AM, Divine
Principle, God manifest in Personality, Knowable God, Spirit of Christ,
God Manifest, Holy Christ, God-Consciousness, Son of God, Sun of
Righteousness, Ra, Godhead, Lord Jehovah, Holy God, Holy One of Israel,
Ruling Spirit of the sun, Archangel, Creative Power, Manifestation of
God, Emanation of the creative Mind, divine Intelligence, Manifestation
of the Christ-Spirit, Ruler of the sun. Other sentences in the book mention "a divine,
immortal Force," "the Great Geometrician whose Alchemy has generated the crystal and the gem," and "the supernal Fountain, the Source of Living Waters." Some other expressions are found in the chapter "The Birth of the Spirit," as follows:
The following excerpts are from Chapter XVI of An Outline of Existence. There is commentary about the nature of human life on Earth; however, the reader should keep in mind statements found in the first chapter: "We cannot give all we wish to give; for one thing, it cannot be expressed in language, for another, you could not understand, because there is no analogy that can present it to the human imagination. And again remember that which we give is qualified by that which you are able to receive."
There came into existence, then, a race of imperfectly individualized Spirits who, having utilized their free-will for purposes of rebellion, had been hurled, as a natural consequence of their own inverse action, into the outposts of matter, a state which was in itself an emanation of their own folly, and a part and parcel of their own subverted condition.
But these individualized Atoms were but units drawn from the great Reservoir of Life. This Source remained, an Aspect of the Mother-God, the Matrix of cosmic Existence from which the Children of God were born, and are being born, into a state of intelligent consciousness.
This is the Reservoir of Absolute Life. It does not increase, nor does it grow less. It is subject only to the apparent metamorphosis of Individualization.
I would that earth language were efficient to explain this truth! It is the very fundamental of all manifestation and of all progress, cosmic and mundane.
In the Beginning, God. All life is invested in Him, all knowledge, all intelligence, all consciousness. This is the Supreme Macrocosm, the Father-God, the Positive Principle. Emanating from this Aspect of the Being of all Life, the Mother-God, or Negative Principle. In this Aspect is embodied the Microcosm, which contains within itself the potential faculties of the Parental Macrocosm.
All Spirit, then, is of God, and is Immaculate. This fiat applies to the Spirit of man, to the Spirit manifest in nature, and to the Spirit which is within all fragments of matter.
The process of Creation occurs where the great Principle of Life which is an Aspect of the Macrocosm, separates itself into microscopic units, each the fœtus of the ego, and acquires a state of individual consciousness, which is the birth of the Spirit into the cosmos.
"LEADER" WRITESMarch 10th, 1931.
I who am called Leader salute thee.
It is essential that your minds should be clear upon the point concerning the races which existed within the orbit of the Earth and of their state of manifestation and consciousness.
Those who were called the Sons of God were Spirits of comparatively recent individualization who approached the earth sphere for such experience as would assist the order of their evolution. It was from these there emanated the Adamic, or greater human race. These spirits were answerable to the Lords or Oversouls in contact with the plane, who, in turn, obeyed the will of the blessed Archangels, the Messengers of the supreme God.
The Sons of God contacted the earth plane from without through the elements of Fire and Air. There was another race which contacted the earth from within through the elements of Earth and Water. These were the spirits who had followed the Prince of Darkness in the Primal Fall, and had lost all individuality, all development of mind, and were evolving through the dimensions of consciousness till, with incarnation into the Earth, they arrived at a three-dimensional condition of existence. These were fleeing from contact with their leaders who were the Lords of Darkness, Adepts of the Infernal Mysteries. They constituted what is known as the sub-human race, the daughters of men.
Now the elements of Fire, Water, Earth and Air were definitely manifest as Elements, and spirits were manifestly native to each separate state of existence. Co-ordination of matter into form had not progressed to the extent at which it has arrived in your present day. It was the contact of the races, each with other, that assisted in the formation of the material earth.
At present, fire, air and water unite to form that which you call your fourth element, but in those days the element of earth was manifestly far different from the material which constitutes your common soil. There lies herein a mystery which you connect with Geometry, and is the point of contact with a two-dimensional plane. It was through its good offices that the evolving soul was enabled to attain a three-dimensional consciousness. A more evolved element could not have served this purpose.
The element of Air contains potentially four dimensions and is of the region of Mind. Of the element of Fire you may confess you know nothing, for in its material form it conceals the processes of electricity and of energy, which is the nearest the earth-consciousness can attain to the Principle of Life.
The element of Water, with you, has three dimensions, and is therefore the Divider, the normal point upon your plane between the two-dimensional and the four-dimensional consciousness.
Now it will be clear that from the conception of a supreme divine Mind, Benignant, Omniscient and Omnipotent, there is a great sweep of Involution, like an Arc of Life, passing through all states of consciousness . . .
This is the gamut of Existence which links directly with the human race. There are other forms of life whose spheres of evolution interlace with your own and whose activities are essential to your own mundane life.
The descent of Adam into matter was not a sudden cataclysm but a gradual decline. Incarnation degenerated into the physical process of which the prophecy was spoken: "In sorrow shalt thou bring forth children."
There was no contravention of law, but an unbroken reaction of cause and effect. Man, having debased the Celestial Essences which were within by drawing them downward into the realm of matter, sank himself from that state of exaltation that had been his birthright into the physical environment of earth.
You have learned that your own sun has no definite crust or surface as has your own earth at this present day. Neither had the Earth for Ages after its creation. To the super-terrestrial boundaries of the planet's higher population is given the name Eden in Allegory, and in history, Atlantis.
Within the Earth's present surface, the fires were cooling, matter was evolving, atom combining with atom in ceaseless experiment until there was produced a vehicle of sentient life. The Creative Lords worked in the knowledge of divine Law, and evolution advanced according to divine Plan.
Think not of the Father-God, the First Cause, as experimenting with the forces of Life. HE IS LIFE. He is the Flux of the Cosmos. Can He experiment with Himself? Nay, again you would attribute to Him human characteristics which are belittling in their limitations. But God, manifest in individual creative Minds, can experiment, utilizing the knowledge of His Law, which is Omnipotence. Again, the word "Creation" is incorrect, They could but direct the Supreme Force of Life into form and manifestation, and this was their work, for only to those in such contact with the Divine Father could such work be entrusted.
Mark you here that the fallen Lord of Darkness had this knowledge, for he also was of like origin, but he had subjected himself to perversion. He also became a creative lord, but he builded the dark spheres of the Lower Astral. Yet, because the power he used was not true, but perverted, the structure of these spheres is synthetic and shall not outlast the test of Celestial Fire, but shall melt atom from atom, and electron from electron, and the Love of God, manifest in Attraction and in Gravity, shall weld them again in perfection, and there shall be harmony and music, and the stars shall sing together to the Glory of God.
Let it be understood that the investiture of the Earth with life was an investiture of mercy, inaugurated to serve a specific purpose in the divine Scheme. Perfection was not intended, it was not required. It would have rendered the purpose useless, and defeated its own ends. It was created a plane suited to the needs of those who should come to it for progress.
You may object, God cannot create imperfection. Nay, He did not. Man, led by the Dark Angel, created imperfection through the perversion of divine Essences. He became responsible for matter. Left to himself, there was no escape from its density, for he had created a monster he could not control.
So the Father-God sent His Creative Lords to help those souls in darkness, to take their dense matter which they had produced and to manipulate it into a sphere wherein they might learn the Law of God, and redeem themselves through His Love, and regain, eventually, the Divine World which they had lost.
The chapter following the one entitled "'Leader' Writes" offers advice of great significance —
Identify the Self with the Godhead [accomplishing good/godly things], so shall thy soul move in harmony with all creation, and the path of thy orbit shall be a spiral that leads ever inwards towards thy Creator of whom thou art in substance.
Some idea of the scope of the transcendental communication documented in the book is expressed by the following excerpts from An Outline of Existence, beginning with the opening two paragraphs of the transcripts comprising the chapters.
In the Name of the Father the Unmanifest; in the Name of the Cosmic Manifestation which transcends all vehicles of expression; in the Name of the Divine Spirit which is the Life-Current of all worlds. Amen.
We of the transcendental world salute you, and through you, the community of man.
. . . filling the great Arcana of Space, are other worlds, unseen, because those alone are visible which respond to your chemical vibrations.
. . . the Shadow of the Cross was laid upon the world, for only through the Initiations of Sacrifice could the Earth regain Nirvana.
All that which is evil must be brought into manifestation to the end that it may be disintegrated. The evil which is latent may elude purification, and may lie dormant in the soul and rot out the heart of man.
In ancient Egypt, when a Neophyte approached the Mysteries, no matter what his rank, he was divested of all rich apparel and all valuables, and he was allocated to the service of a Priest of higher rank. For years he served the Priest in obedience and in silence, and thus he learned the cosmic lesson of identification of the self-will with the Master's will, and of personal desire with the weal of the community.
There is a fourth [fixed] Sign in the heavens, Aquarius, the Man bearing the Pitcher of Water. Herein is the symbol of Noah, the Life-bringer to the races of the world.
His sign rules the new Age that is dawning in your history, and in your Age, knowledge from the East will come to you, and be linked with the Wisdom of the West. For his Sign, which is the Sign of the Rainbow, is an Arc, uniting west and east in a seven-fold ray.
The Pitcher of the Water of Life is flung out across the heavens, and the children of the earth who thirst may take and drink freely, without money and without price.
You may behold the Seal of God's Covenant, that the waters of the Astral Plane shall not again flow over the soul, for through the initiations of Noah, Mankind has builded the Ark of Character, and has reached the Mountain of Attainment.
There are many coming through into incarnation who are young in spirit, and many who have battled long with the forces of evil of a virulency not known upon your physical plane. There are still great reservoirs of latent evils that must be permitted manifestation ere their dark waters may be transformed into the Waters of Life.
That a soul is capable of achieving incarnation postulates a condition of partially-developed mentality. He is not a passive production of parental energy, but an active perpetrator of a physical occurrence. He has already experienced the reactions of existence in some previous form, and has acquired the personality which you call character.
The body of flesh is accessory to the growth of the soul; it is transitory and soon discarded. It has served as a vehicle of contact with Experience, but the soul in manipulating it has used his own free-will, and has benefited or depleted himself accordingly.
The plan of the stars which you call a Horoscope is a heritage bequeathed from other incarnations. I do not state dogmatically they must of necessity have been past lives within known terrene conditions. There are cases in which it may be a legacy from a super-terrene state that finds no place in memory because the human brain cannot assimilate the circumstances in such dimensions.
Therefore, O daughter, the Peace of God be with you, that peace which, in very truth, passeth all understanding. The Peace of the Father-God, which is the sublime key-note of Creation, the Peace of the Son, Which is the divine Spirit within you, and the peace of the Holy Ghost which is the harmony of all cosmic Matter, united in perfection.
